C2: Powerglide fluid capacity & recommendation

The engine and the (original) Powerglide have been reinstalled in my '65. I've consulted two sources for the transmission fluid capacity, the Shop Manual '65 Supplement and the Owner's Guide. The S/M says the capacity is 3 pints, while the O/G says it is 9 quarts. Huh? Your advice is, as always, greatly appreciated.

If the transmission is completely dry including the converter use the higher number. If you only drain the pan, it would be 3-4 quarts.
