    Need some part number help

I just acquired a rear end assembly,I plan to use a as a core to go out to a rebuilder,Before I send it to him I want to make sure it is not some valuble core I should not be sending out to a rebuilder but getting into the hands of some one who needs it.

The part numbers are as follows
Driver side of case casting # 3899143

Bottom of case in between where the case cover and the spring would be is
    AWW 026 E

Passenger side of case under halfshaft side yokes #A104

Passenger side of case between the mounting holes # C2

It also has threader half shafts so I am thinking it was menat for a big block car.
The half shaft yoke numbers are 3872923X

As always Your help is GREATLY appreciated

    Larry-----

There's nothing particularly valuable about this unit. The case was used from 1967 through 1979 and based upon the information that you provided, this unit was likely originally a 3.08:1 positraction unit installed in a 1974 Corvette big block.

        Larry----

I should also have mentioned, that it's also possible that this unit was originally installed in a 1974 small block. By 1974, a lot of small blocks also got the cap-type stub axles. For these applications, the small block differential units would have been exactly the same as the big block. So, there's no way to tell whether it was originally used for a small block or big block. Consequently, it's really a moot point as to what the original use was.
