    63 ammeter

I have a 63 convertible and I'll trying to find out if anyone can help me fix my ammeter gauage. It reads 180 degrees out of phase, the indicator points straight down. Anytime I use any electrical system, turn signals, wipers, etc. the gauage will flicker/move in the proper direction just upside down. The car runs great and I don't appear to have any other electrical problems. Any suggestions.

If I understand your post correctly, the needle seems to be on upside down. If I remember what the ammeter looks like, the actual gauge mechanism is in a can that can be unscrewed from the face and rotated 180 degrees taking the needle with it. A second option is that the needle itself can be removed from it's shaft and turned around, but the first scenario seems more likely to me.

I remember an old Driveline article on ammeters with the needle at 6:00 clock and it told you how to "reset" the needle at 12 clock. If you can't find it send me a message and I'll dig it out. Bill

These things are sort of like a compass that dont know North from South. All you have to do is get the needle back up between the stops and it will stay up.
