    Tach Removal

Is the procedure for removal of my tach documented anywhere for my 1960? I know that you have to disassemble the dash panel to get it out, but how do you go about it?

You need to pull the instrument cluster. Proceedure to R&R should be defined by the 1953-62 Corvette Service Manual ($25 member price) available on this site (STORE). Seems like this is a book you'd want in your support library for 'baby' even if you can get a quick answer on this board from others....

I have the book you are talking about. I'll look for the procedure . Thanks for the advise.

P.S. I found the procedure in the service manual.
I just didn't look hard enough.

Here's a tip for removing the instrument panel: Take 2 pieces (about 12" long) of threaded rod of the same diameter & pitch as the screws holding the panel and screw them into the top left and right holes. When about 3" of the rod is threaded in, remove the rest of the screws, slide the panel back and the rods will act as support and keep the panel from falling. The light switch, ignition key and oil pressure gauge will restrict movement so disconnect them first. Send me an e-mail if you need clarification.
