soak hydraulic lifters?

Is this an old wives tale, or is it necessary to soak a set of new hydraulic lifters in oil overnight to "prime" them?

probably an ole wives tale. just make sure you coat the lifters and cam with food quality cam and lifter lubricant before you fire the old girl up. mike

I usually buy about 10 avacodos(spelling a problem with me) put them in a big pot , stomp the feces out of em, then paint the resulting mess on the cam and lifters mike
