C3 - front coil spring question

Most of the aftermarket parts suppliers offer replacement coils – which I believe are a constant rate design. Does anyone know of a supplier who is offering variable rate coil springs similar to the OEM coils? Specifically, a replacement for the 3931826 coil which I believe is rated at 325lbs/in?

    Thanks

John with your BB 69 with air you could use the 518 GM spring if it was still available. This is the performance suspension spring used on some C3's. I liked it when it was in use on my 70 SB with air. The car height stayed about the same with the 518 spring, just took more weight to compress this spring.

      Jim-----

The GM #3832518 spring is discontinued. It's now easy to remember which 53-82 Corvette springs are still available from GM. That's because all you have to remember is the four-letter word "NONE".

Great... that makes it real easy from a part-number point of view! - Now that I know that GM currently carries NONE of the replacement springs, the question still stands - WHO may/might carry variable rate springs in either the GM SERVICE version or the REPO version with the correct ratings? ;-)

        Thanks!

Dr. Rebuild used to carry most of the original springs. Whether he has any inventory remaining of the one you need, you'd have to call and find out.

Otherwise, Eaton Detroit Spring is the GM licensee for virtually all of the old GM springs, coil and leaf. Whether or not they acually "make them to the print", I could not tell you. Some of their other springs, primarily rear leaf, that I have seen are not made to the blue-print specs. However, they are the closest thing out there.

Thanks Joe - I tried the DOC... no luck. Now I have a new lead to follow up on!
