    Early 63 gas door assy.

Purchased a new emblem and would like to know what is the correct way to loosen and re-tighten the retaining tabs. One of the previous owners already mangled up a couple of the tabs and I don't want to make the same mistake. Thanks in advance for the help.

I know of two ways, one is to use small knife or instrument to pry up the edges of teh pened over rivet head for lack of a better discription; other way some have doen it is to get under the cover plate with a fine saw and cut off teh shank of the rivet. You then glue the whole assembly back together with the rivet head glued in. either way it is a pain from what I went through. just have to have (be) patient. ken
