Are the right/left rear brake calipers interchangeable, with the exchange of bleeder position(s) or is there more to it than that? What about side to side interchangeability of front calipers? Finally, what parts of the calipers are interchangeable front to back?
The rear brake caliper halves are specific for each of the rear calipers. Each of the 4 halves (2 on each side) used for the rear brakes are different and NONE are interchangeable. You cannot interchange them by "reversing" the brake line/plug positions.
The front calipers, as a unit, cannot be interchanged from side-to-side. The inner front caliper HALVES are specific for the left and right side brakes. The front caliper outer HALVES are interchangeable from side to side.
For front or rear, you cannot go by caliper casting numbers to determine interchangeability. In some cases, the same casting is used for different caliper half positions, but the castings are machined differently to result in different finished PART numbers. PART numbers are not displayed on the calipers, themselves.
As far as front and rear interchangeability goes, there is very little. There are NO parts of the calipers which are used front and rear except for the pins, bleeder valves, and pads.
