To my untrained eyes, it appears that the pulley has discolored a lot if it was removed after only 5K miles. Guess it depends where it has been stored at all these years.

It's a mostly original set-up. However, the seller describes the "two diverter valves" (what he means is "check valves") as having GM #22034702 on them. This is a part number for a check valve, but it didn't exist in 1969. It came along a lot later. So, the claim regarding the fact that the system has never been apart can't be accurate, either.

I asked him to check for numbers on the black phosphate backing plate...and he couldn't find one. Was there some inconsistency in those early years with those plate numbers?

I've never seen one without casting numbers. However, these numbers are sometimes very "weak" and difficult to see.

I had a quote from Bill hodell for a restored A.I.R for my 427/435 and no guessing about dates! at $1250
