    C1 Thru C5

    Hello all,

I know this is probably not the place for this, but the help I have had here for my 62 has worked very well so far, and we all have garages!
Any of you out there have any experience with garage floor paint? I am a freak about oil stains. I built my garage 3 years ago. The floor is basically clean except where the vette has marked its territory! Someday I will fix all the leaks. For now I just want to save my floor. Is there a degreaser to remove the stain so the paint will stick?
Any thoughts for a Black & White checkered floor? Also who makes good floor paint?

been down the "paint the garage floor" route before and IF you routinly use lacquer or enamel thinner, any caustics, or paint remover in your restoration endeavores, forget about painting the cement. otherwise 3 or 4 years from now you'll be back posting questions on how to remove that flaking, peeling paint you put down this year. just try and keep it clean, work on the vets and forget about a sterile garage floor. i've been in a lot of garages/shops and the only PRODUCTIVE ones i've encountered ane not sterile.have fun wworking on the vets and screw the floor. mike

Dear Mr. Mike, I respectfully disagree. I consider my garage/shop to be a working shop and the floors are beautiful. I can't speak for paint as I have epoxy floors which is very durable. Not only do I work on Corvettes, but I restore wooden boats and other woodworking projects and use lots of stripper and other harsh chemicals. All you have to do is wipe it up relatively soon---no urgent rush--after the spill and it's as good as new. Here is what my floor looks like: http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpub...elected=250058

The outfit that did it is HomePro and you can check it out at: http://www.homeprofloors.com

        I agree

Mike I agree if you weld and cut and have a few spills you don't need to worry more about the floor than your project. Lyle

Art: maybe if i hadn't used 50 cent a can spray paint from the local surplus store, my floor would be pretty too. I like pretty vets but care less about where my dirty boots tread. regards, mike

            Art,
Your photo dosen't show when I click the connection. Please e-mail it to me. I am finally building a garage/shop addition for my Corvettes and would like to have a "clean shop". The epoxy floor sounds great but did you consider vinyl tile? I am considering the black and white checkered approach. Did you price anything like the patterened options the company has available?
            Thanks, Kent

Same outfit (Home Pro Floor Coatings) did my floor three years ago, in light gray; it's absolutely indestructible (hot tires, chemicals, dropped tools, etc.) and super-easy to keep clean, and its reflectivity about doubles the effective lighting level in the garage. The key is the prep; they steel shot-blast the floor to open the "pores" in the concrete "skin" so the epoxy has something with "teeth" to bond to, not just an acid wash. Worth every penny

You guys have sold me....do they travel? I see an office listed on their website in AZ (I am guessing Phoenix, I live in Tucson - about 125 miles) I am adding on a garage expansion to 4 cars from two, and this sounds like the ticket to me!....Craig
