What is the proper colour of the outside and inside of the Glove Box door? Is there any chrome on the inside (other than the latch at the top of the door)?
Mario, The inside of the door is all semi-flat black painted as an assembly after riveting. The two rods are masked off just above attachment points. The lock and retainer are assembled after painting. The die casting is masked around chrome edges inside loop and around outside edge to stay chrome while the textured surface is painted semi gloss black to match the instrument cluster. The sheet metal hinge and "D" shaped frame work are also painted to match the inside of the door. The attaching screws are black zinc or black oxide. The lock latch bracket is chrome like with chrome screws securing it. The lock attaching small head screw is cad plated, chrome like or phosphate. And the outside brushed aluminum panel with the chrome corvette logo appears to have been anodized on some well kept originals, but most original pieces look like bare aluminum. Maybe some else knows about this finish for sure.
