Regarding grille mounting locations for my '63 have observed 3 tabs on the top side of the grille I've purchased. Should the surround just above the grille have 3 corosponding mounting tabs for attachment purposes? My early December production does not have any body tabs for the grille to attach to? Is it possible early production '63's had no upper mounting tabs and the grille I have is for one that would have those tabs or has someone possibly removed these grille mounting tabs. Thanks in advance.
mike. you need 3 fiberglass tabs as part of the upper valence to mount the 63 grill properly. they were notorious for breaking in minor parking lot fender benders and body shops usually overlooked them when repairing the valences years ago. another possibility is a 66-67 styleuypper valence was used to repair the damage. good luck, mike
