    solid lifters

Hi, is there an easy way to determine, with just the valve cover off, if a 65 327 is solid or Hydraulic lifters?

You should be able to tell by the sound of the engine without even taking the valve cover off. However, if your ear is not "tuned" to the sound, here's what I'd suggest:

Try to insert a .008" feeler gauge between the valve stems and the rocker arms of each of the valves on one side of the engine. If the feeler gauge can be inserted between ANY of the rocker rocker arms and valve stems, then you have solid lifters. If you can't, then you have hydraulic lifters.
