    Air/Temp Knobs & Cables

I just received new knobs for my existing cables from Corvette Central. The new knobs thread while the old look like they were pushed onto a large size cable end. The cable ends are not threaded, rather have a rounded head and grooves around at equal intervals. I assume the knobs are correct? What are the cables and will I have to replace them or the knobs? Thanks in advance.

Corvette Central should have told you that in order to use their nobs you have to thread the ends of your original cables to accept their nobs. I think that the catalog tells you what size you have to thread the ends 8/32 or 10/32, I don't recall, contact Corvette Central and they will confirm. I used these knobs and they worked out real well!

      Thanks Don,

I went back to the catalgue and read the fine print. You were right, I have to thread them 10-32. This sure is a wonderful site to get good info from fellow Corvette enthusiasts. Thanks again.

        David,
If you are having your car judged in the future, be sure to paint the brass insert with a little black paint before you put them on so the brass won't stand out to a judge with a mirror who might look behind them! I also put a drop of locktite on the threads to keep them from coming loose.

                Gentlemen,

This car is a nice driver. No flight judging for this owner. Couldn't stand the stress of people looking behind my knobs with mirrors.
