C2 1964 Powerglide

The previous owner of my car, at some point in time, had work done on the transmission or starter, where the mechanic replaced the original fastners that hold the dust cover onto the lower transmission, with some manufactured by Dohrman. The AIM lists the fastners as "screw assembly" with the production part number of 423345. The 1978 Chevrolet Parts Catalog lists the sevice part as "screw assembly-5/16x18x7/8", part number 3924780. I gather from the discription that the part is a bolt with some sort of captured washer.

I've called the vendors, such as GM and Paragon, and the fastners are not available.

I'm asking if some one with an original car would please tell me exactly what this fastner is (head marking on bolt and what type of washer), or suggest another vendor that I might try. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

phil; can't remember if fastners are pan-head machine or hex head but what ever, Junkyards ought to serve up a set--just check out any mid-60's chevy pass cars with P>G> good luck, mike

Philip They were the same bolts used on your oil pan, the little ones having a star washer.

I have a couple in my nut and bolt bucket. I'll visit a friend tomorrow and scrounge a couple more. There's only one auto salvage yard in my area, and that's still a 30 minute drive one way. Then they won't let you scrounge around. They pick the parts for you. No treasure hunting. Kinda takes the fun out of the visit.
