Every C2 that I have had a chance to look at has varied amounts of rubber gasket material showing from under the exterior handle edge - going from negative - ie regressed under the handle where you can not see it to 1/16th to 1/8th outside the edge. Was there a closer tolerance from the factory and what is the rule of thumb re judging gasket exposure ?

Re: C2 Door Handle Gaskets
Most judges know gasket fit varied. They basically look for evidence that gasket(s) are there (might have to look closely from a side angle) and that the gasket material is 'correct' for the period (e.g. fiche paper vs. rubber or rubber without outer 'lips' vs. molded plastic).- Top

Current JG book....
for 1965 is specific regarding exterior mirror gasket (...thin dark paper, not rubber, gasket...) and vauge on door handle/lock bezel gasket material (...Thin black gaskets...free of paint overspray...). Both (fiber mirror gasket and door handle/lock bezel gaskets from thin die cut rubber) are standard items in ye olde Doctor Rebuild catalog!- Top
