Power loss on 1957 Corvette

While driving at full throttle, I will suddenly lose power on my 1957, single four barrel, Corvette. If I try to restart immediately, the engine will not fire. After sitting for a minute or two, it will restart. Does anyone know what is causing this? Thanks for your help.

Dan,
With the sketchy information provided, it sounds like your problem may be fuel related. Replace the fuel filter (also their may be one inside the WCFB under the top cover big nut) and check the flow of the fuel pump. I believe there are flow spects in the '58 Chevrolet Service Manual. Regards,

There is also a filter on the end of the sending unit in the tank.
My sending unit filter was quite clogged.

Make sure you have a vented fuel cap.

Are the valves set a little tight and the lifters pumping up holding the valves off of their seats ( no compression ) ?

i had the same problem with a 58. pull the sending unit and replace the filter.
