I need to have the front end of my C2 looked at (the car wanders to the right when I take my hands off the steering wheel) and would like to hear from those NCRS members who live on Long Island who they recommend/use for alignment work? I have contacted a few alignment shops in my area and none of them are interested/willing to work on the car. Thanks

John:
I cannot recommend anyone where you are at but you do need someone who will take the time to do it right. Whoever you end up with should do a 4 wheel alignment.
Its not rocket science to align these cars. You just need someone who has the right equipment, knowledge and takes pride in their work. I was lucky in that my local mechanic in the nearby town where I live could do it. You will be amazed in the difference a proper alignment will make in how your car drives.
If you don't hear from someone on the board, you might try calling some of the classic Corvette dealers near where you live. I thought I recall seeing a couple of vendors at Carlisle. I can't remember their names but you should be able to turn them up in a web search. Good Luck.- Top

Re: C2- Front End Alignment
Do the easy stuff first. Most pulling to the side is not caused by bad alignment.
Check tire pressures.
Check for damaged tires.
Swap the wheels and tires from side to side or front to rear. Look for bad ball joints or tie rod ends while the wheels are off.
Make sure brakes are not dragging.
Make sure the steering box is not too tight.
Make sure your P/S valve (if equipped) is properly adjusted for center.- Top
