Re: 61 fuel inj ?
There are about 10 "tell tales" on a C1 FI car. One already mentioned is the air cleaner nut plate, located on the upper edge of the left inner fender, just slightly aft of the engine center line.
2. The left side of the radiator support has a hole where the air cleaner hose connects. Carb cars had a block off plate over this hole. The three screw holes should show no sign of threads.
3. The horn relay should be located on the verticle portion of the left inner fender, not horizontal in the recess where the fresh air hose fits.
4. The windshield washer, or the mounting holes where it used to be, should be on the right inner fender, just forward of the battery.
5. The tach, if original to the car, should read "registers 2X cable speed", or something to that effect. (distributer driven vs generator driven)
6.There should be FI emblems or the holes where they once were should be visable with the kick panel removed.
7.The hole where the tach cable goes through the firewall should look "factory cut", not done by bubba with a drill.
8. There should be a pair of 1/4" holes, about 3/4" apart in the left inner fender about 6-8" below the nut plate for the air cleaner. This is where the bottom of the air cleaner attaches.
9. There should be two sets of holes for retaining brackets on the left inner fender similar tothe brackets on the right side for the heater fresh air hose.
There should be a single screw hole just behind the radiator support for the first bracket which was attached at the bottom only.
10. It would raise my eyebrows if the car did not have positraction.
That's 10, I'm sure there are some more I haven't thought of.- Top
