Well, I finally did it! I bought my first part on eBay. Some of you may have seen the auction. It was for a 7L13 1100696 alternator. I've just reviewed the archives (which I should have done first) and now I see that there are some counterfeit 696's out there. I'm not sure if I paid too much for an original, got lucky, or should go buy some Vaseline for my goof.
Now the questions:
1) How would I recognize a counterfeit alternator?
2) Is a 7L13 too "early" for an April 68 build date?
3) Someone please explain by what the TIM&JG describes for a 68 alternator (rear core at 3 o'clock position, etc).
