Re: Looking for a 67' BB

Carlo-After reading your post i can only assume you have not yet joined the NCRS.This site is operated by the membership for the entertainment and education of Corvette owners. The $30 per year you spend will be more than returned in information provided by the publications you will receive and the availible discount publications your membership entitles you buy.Your goal of hands on work on a Corvette is an admirable one but by your own addimission has financial restriants. The Corvette you mention is almost unobtainable.67 L88's when sold go in the $500,000 + range.Even basketcase cars if you could find one would be very expensive and much like the "Lost Dutchman Mine" many are looking for just such a car.I would recommend doing your homework on midyear Corvette first and then look for a reasonably priced small block car.You will find that sometimes those bargain basketcase cars end up costing way too much to complete. You may find just what your looking for in "The Driveline" which the NCRS publishes 6 time a year. The Restorer is the factual and historical magazine that also comes 6 times a year. You may have a local chapter of the NCRS in your area which may also be helpful in finding and learning about Corvettes.Good luck,Lou

Then there are the VERY wealthy, like Colorado's George Gilette (former owner of Vail ski resort) who commissioned a complete 'authentic' '67 L88 built for him. Didn't want concours because he knew it was a replica, but wanted a 'correct' replica.

Project started with a one owner, low milage, '67 L71 and MUCH time, $, and effort was put into the project. During bankruptcy proceedings several years back, the replica L88 was one of the only cars in his collection NOT to sell at auction....

    Advice:

Join NCRS, study, and learn before you make a move into Corvettedom. It's easy to toss away big time/$ chasing rabbits....
