1963 340hp...I'm experiencing a loss of throttle response and slight hesitation after the engine is throughly warmed up, especially on warm days. On intial start up and during initial driving the car runs great just as it should. All tune up specs are good with no apparent vacuum leaks, advance comes in properly and the accelerator pump is set to shop manual specs on fresh rebult carb. I do not know how to check the plug wires if thats a possibility, but thought that may be worthwhile. I also checked the archieves about the intake manifold heat cross over? It would be great if it ran like it does when cold! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hesitation
James:
Please tell us more about your carburetor. Who rebuilt it? Remove all 8 plugs and relate their color. They should ALL have tan discoloration on the insulators, and the electrodes and ring should be grey-black and dry. I had the same problem with my 1965 SHP, which is the same as yours except that you have the "Duntov" cam versus my "30-30". You have (I think) a Carter AFB, versus my Holley 2818.
My issue was resolved when I sent my carb out to Jerry Luck, for a rebuild.

Re: hesitation '63 340hp
This may be simplistic:
Did you check to make sure the heat riser valve is operating properly (opening as the car warms up)?
You said the accelerator pump is set to shop manual specs, but have you checked it when the engine is warmed up to make sure it's giving a healthy shot of fuel?
Vaccuum advance can might be another item to check.- Top

Hey James -
A good way to check the plug wires is to observe the engine in the dark. If you see flashes of blue light that's an indication that the plug wires are shot.- Top
