    Heater/Defroster Switch Repair

    Hi all,
I am sure this question has been asked before, probably by me so here goes anyway. Could someone recommend a reliable vendor who repairs these fragile hearter/defroster switches? I have a 1961 car and the blower only blows on the high side. I think I have it hooked up correctly. Is there anyone who sells these original switches outright? Is there possibly a nice NCRS member here who has one that might like to sell it to me.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Craig Willetts

Mary Jo Rohner used to do this repair, and I am pretty sure still does.

Before you go spending a month's mortgage payment on the switch, a couple of questions. The switch apparently doesn't run on the low speed. Is the resistor in place and hooked up? Have you read across the resistor with a meter? Does the switch do anything at all in the "low" position? Does the high position turn off and on normally?

          Ed,
Thanks for the follow up. I am not exactly sure about the resistor you are referring to other than the small white unit inside of a coil wire on the back side. There are only two hook up points on the unit. Maybe one has gotten broken off over time. This is one area I know very little about. Thanks for your imput.
          Regards,

The little white gizzmo with the wire is the resistor. It lowers the voltage on low speed. Check to see if it is open or not solidly connected on one end. It can be repalced without taking the switch apart.
