C1 original (non DOT) spare

Can anyone point me to someone who has an "original" non-DOT whitewall 6.70 x 15 tire I can use for my spare? Preferrable unmounted. I realize these are like hen's teeth but I am on a crusade! Thanks for your help. John

If you have repro tires on your car a non-dot tire does not save any points. I have a 60 with non-dot spare and still get full deduct for tires.

Look on ebay. A Firestone Deluxe just sold for over $530. I just can't imagine a single tire being worth that much. It did have a wheel with it also. Someone has more money than sence. I have a original non-DOT great tread Jet Chief I will sell you if you really want a non-DOT. Let me know.

Spare tires are judged separately from road tires; if you have repro road tires that require a standard deduction but have a correct non-DOT spare that meets the requirements for full credit, you won't get any deduction for the spare. However, the going price these days for correct non-DOT tires hardly makes any sense compared to the points gain.

John I have 6,70x15 original tires (three) with about %75 good rubber came of a 55 Chevy with 1600 miles but are black good for a spare so that the tire cover will sit down on the body right. I use one for my 55 corvette. E-mail me at braatz@jps.net if interested or any one needing one.
