Just disassembled my 54 windshield frame. Everything seems to be original. The glass code is correct and I have owned the car since 1974. The top of the weatherstrip has a small piece of foam taped to it. This is between the weathersrip and the upper frame and runs almost completely across the top. Maybe to take up extra space. Also there is a lot of what I call body dum-dum in the corners of the post. Is this the normal factory assembly technique? Does anybody know who stil does the post repair? One post has the common mount leg broken condition.
Thanks.
when i redid my 54 vet windshield frame years ago( owned since 69 and glass was orig date code) there was no foam but tons of caulking.local maching shop fabricated the leg out of steel and machined away a section of the post that is hidden. then got them rechromed. can't tell they've been modified. good luck, mike
