67 Seat Backs - Who's Got The Best Ones

I need some advise on where to get White 67 seat backs. I have heard that most are black ABS material with colored vinyl stretched over them. Is there anyone making them with original material?

    Thanks,

I'm not sure that current reproduction seat backs are made from the same EXACT plastic material, plus you've got the polymerization factor(s) there as well and I DOUBT any judge can really distinguish the difference once color is properly molded in. So, ABS vs. Borq KJW, Etc. is a non-issue in my book....

The real issue(s) are fit, mold texture, and color fastness. I think you'll find Paragon's repro seat backs are as close as you get to the real McCoy originals and few can spot difference(s)....

I called Paragon today and they only make the solid color backs in limited quantities and won't do another run until ALL colors are sold out. Currently they have no white backs other than the thicker ABS ones. Are you saying the thicker backs (vinyl over black ABS) are as good as the solid molded ones? AM I getting too picky here?

        Jace,

How bad are your originals? Mine (Black) are kind of beat up, and routinely receive a couple of point deducts for condition. I decided long ago, I would rather take a couple of point deductions for condition and still retain my originals, than spend a few hundred dollars and yet still take a couple of point deductions on originality.

          Billy Bob,

My white backs are really in great shape. No scratches or dents just a little worn in spots, dirty and faded. My concern is that in order to really make them look good I am going to have to have them dyed, painted whatever. Is that going to look ok? Should I spend the money to have them restored at the risk of not liking the result and spending more money for repros? Anyone out there had backs re-painted or dyed? I am going to attempt to restore my original white door panels that are basically in the same condition. I too would like tot keep the originals, just am concerned about the cost to restore and having them look ok.

          Thanks,
          Jace

              Michael,

Do you have a brand of cleaner that you would recommend.

              Thanks,
              Jace

"Tuff Stuff" with a brush, then Meguiar's vinyl...

cleaner, then their vinyl protector, it's a medium gloss, looks more original.
