    C1 IGNITION SHIELDING BOLTS

I had no ignition shielding on my 1961 when I bought it. I bought the necessary shileding. My problem is finding bolts to fasten it with. I know about the bolts to the exhaust manifold. I am just confused on: the spark plug heat shield, coil bracket bolt, spark plug wire clip on block. I am going to see if I can look at another 61 at some of the car shows. I thought someone could help me with the correct type of bolts. Thanks as always, Joe DeLuca Member #37862

      Joe,
If you have a copy of the proper/latest NCRS judging guide for your C1 it should help. In 61 I believe the upper shield uses 3 hex bolts and the lower shielding uses the thumb nuts.

Hi Joe: The heat shields are held to the block with an untrimmed (dished) hex head (7/16 head)with external tooth lock washer. Front ones also pickup the plug wire looms. These screws are pretty short, maybe 3/8 or 1/2 - mine are installed already. The plug clip to block back by the casting number uses same style screw. coil bracket and wire loom opposite it go under intake bolts. Others have covered how shielding then fastens to all of that. Easy for me to take photos at this point so let me know if you want any shots of anything... -Karl
