Re: 63 dash lights
If the switch "feels funny", there is a good chance that you need a new one. They are easy to R&I, so you may want to take it out and clean it throughly first. HL switches are relatively inexpensive and readily available. If there is something loose inside, (like one of the contacts), I'd pitch it.- Top

Re: 63 dash lights
'63 was unique as the only year Corvette to use an '095 HL switch. If yours is a real McCoy original (the stamped steel, plated, side cover will bear an '095' emboss), you might think hard about restoring it vs. replacing it as it's a relatively unique part. Originals had a dimmer stage potentiameter with a rather large, finned, heat sink to thwart burn out that is very different in geometry from later service replacement switches.
The 'numbers' on HL switch cover along with specifics of the bakelite body (brown vs. black, Etc.) are closely looked at in C1 judging because access with a flashlight and inspector's mirror is easier than C2/C3 cars. Still, you can usually 'save' a correct/original HL switch by taking it apart, cleaning it up, and bending the wiper arm of the potentiameter to regain solid/fresh contact with the resistor windings....- Top
