    C1 upper w/s molding

Sometime soon I want to replace the upper w/s molding on my 62. I recently replaced the glass, and I'm not real enthuiastic about tearing the whole frame down again unless I have to. I know the molding can be installed with the frame assembled. Matter of fact, thats how the ST12 directions read. I know most folks probably do it with the upper channel installed in the molding. I've done it both ways and you have to hold your mouth right to get the molding to go on over the upper channel and the side posts.

My concern is whether you can get the molding OFF without running a significant risk of damaging something. Anyone have any experience doing this?

I have removed the top molding from my 60 a couple of times with the windshield frame on the car. Removing this way did not cause any damage, but it sure seems like the removal and installation is causing damage from all of the pushing, twisting, and hammering (used a rubber mallet). Luckily, the molding is made of spring steel so it weathers the process well.

Any specifics on the removal process? Or installation for that matter?

To remove, I use a flat blade screwdriver, start at one end, outside edge and run the screwdriver under the molding until it pops off the upper frame. Just keep running the screwdriver down the molding and holding up the freed end as you go. The molding only "attaches to the front edge of the upper frame. The re-install never seems to be the same; start at one end and tap the molding with a rubber mallet until it starts to seat. Then work you way down the length of the molding tapping, twisting, and using the screw driver. Be sure the front edge of the molding goes under the upper molding so it stays in place. The back side (interior of car side) just "sits" on top of the upper frame. Good luck and be patient and go slow.
