A.I.R / SMOG systems

I believe that myself and many others may be a bit confused on this subject. Earlier post helped a little but clarification is needed since my car and other cars have had these parts removed. Are these two things the same thing? And what consists of the system or system? I'm asking because I was going to order all my belts from Quanta and the picture(may be generic picture) showed that I needed a pump and all sorts or parts. I confused heavily on this issue. I understand (somewhat) the function of this equipment, but unclear on others. What's the system consist of, I have many of the books, just some direction may be needed. jc

If I recall correctly, you have a 68 big-block, so my response is going to be based on that assumption.

The A.I.R. system components for your car consist of: air injection pump, air injection pump bracket, air injector pump pulley, air injector pulley spacer, water pump air injector drive pulley, air injection pump drive fan belt, air injection diverter valve, diverter valve to pump gasket, 2 air injection 5/8" hoses(special material), 2 check valves, 4 hose clamps(tower style), left side air injection pipe, right side air injection pipe, exhaust manifolds with air injection fittings, 8 air injection tubes in manifolds, and 1 vacuum hose between diverter valve and carburetor.
