Re: 60 generator
Original generator pulley from that era WAS offset or 'spaced out'.... This was compensation for the forward motor mount that moved the waterpump away from the block. But, there are several variations on the generator mounting bracket that need to be agree with the engine mount configuration and the waterpump's press-fit hub as well. Earlier C1 cars ('55-57) used generator pulleys that weren't spaced out from their integral fan.- Top

Re: 60 generator
If I recall correctly, there is a different gen mount plate that is specific to the 62 340 and 360 engine. May be due to diferene in dimension of the 2.5" exhaust manifold. Those plates can be slotted to compensate for a bit of misalignment but maybe not as much as you are experiencing.- Top

Terry--
You might look at the bracket that the generator mounts to (which in turn mounts to the bracket that bolts to the exhaust manifold) That bracket ( a "u" with a very long base and short uprights)can be flipped end for end, because the bolt holes are not equidistant from the ends. That is also a place to look for misalignment. Good luck- Top
