Collector Car Insurance State of Texas

I will be moving to the state of Texas (Houston area) within the next two months and have started to get insurance quotes for my 1965 Corvette convertible. I'm currently insured with State Farm (in Louisiana) and pay a low rate for Agreed Value insurance with full coverage. What I have found about Texas is that many of the companies like State Farm and Allstate either don't cover collectible vehicles, or if they do, they charge a fortune. I'd like to obtain the names of any reputable and reasonably price insurance carriers who specialize in collector cars, especially in the state of Texas. In particular, I'd like to hear from any members who live in Texas and what their recommendations might be. Thanks for any information shared !!!!

Try Hagerty. They have a WEB site. www.hagerty.com. I have a 63 vette and a 71 Karmann ghia and the yearly fee in under $375 for both. They have an agreed to value structure. I've heard from others if you do have a claim they are very responsive. I have not had a claim with them.

http://www.americancollectorsins.com is worth looking at too. My regular insurer, USAA, refers all members with collector cars to American Collectors Insurance.

I'm with AM Collectors (agreed value) in PA, but no info re: TX coverage.

Can say they are priced with others I've surveyed. No first-hand comments about claims; never had the occasion.

Jim, welcome to Texas. I am the Texas Chapter president. Unfortunately, Texas auto insurance rates are extremely high compared to other states, mainly due to uninsured motorists and thefts that go south of the Texas border. I live in TX, in the DFW area and have used Grundy for my 67 L-79 and have been very happy with them although I have never had a claim. They have no mileage limitations like many other Classic/collector insurance companies.

I live in the Houston area and I use American Collectors. I have insured at least 5 different Corvettes with them. Rates are very competitive. When you get to Houston get in touch with me.
