    66 front suspension

I'm working on restoring my 66 front suspension, and when I removed the steering knuckle and the brake caliper mounting bracket, the bolts attaching the knuckle, steering arm and bracket were fastened with nuts and lock washers. The 66 judging manual indicates that no lock washwers were used, but that the nuts were self locking. Can anyone describe these self locking nuts? I purchased new bolts and nuts from LIC, and the only difference I can see in the nuts is that one side has a somwhat rounded surface rather than flat. Is this a self locking nut? Thanks

John, The rounded side of the nut is deformed and locks on the threads. Try running it onto the bolt and you'll see it will lock up before the bolt gets halfway through. These are similar to the constant torque nut used on valve tappets.

I suspected that was the case, but I appreciate the confirmation. Thanks
