As part of the STV valve on mid year AC cars there is a device called absolute pressure regulator attached to the bottom of the STV. Previous owner had bypassed the vacuum connection to this device. I reinstalled vacuum hose and noticed there is a small vacuum leak in this line/device. I called the rebuilder of the STV valve who stated this portion of the STV cannot be rebuilt,ie, the regulator is a sealed unit.
My understanding is this regulator compensates for high altitude to keep the evap from freezing.
Does anyone know of a source for this valve? Should I bypass the vacuum line again and forget high altitude trips?
