Re: C3 driveshaft
The part number is correct for 68-72 Corvette with automatic transmission. The part number should be stenciled on the shaft in 1" high gothic numerals using yellow paint. I have no knowlege about the other paint markings. Maybe others will be able to help with those.
If your car has never been restored, you have made a very nice "find". Driveshaft markings are less likely to survive even on well-preserved, original cars. Rust and road exposure takes a toll on them. If the markings are original, I would expect them to be in very weathered condition.- Top

Andrew:
In order to help the hobby of restoring corvettes, especially the 1970 model would you please take photos of the drive shaft and markings and send them to Juliet at the 1970 Corvette Registry. The Juliet the Web mistress of the site can be contacted at Juliet@annapolis.net. You should list your Corvette on the site if you have not already done so. Also you will find a wealth of information and detail photos others have contributed to the site specifically for 1970 Corvettes. I have a 1970 LS-5 4-speed and I would be interested in the photos to see an original shaft with inspection markings. Take a look at the 1970 Corvette Registry Web site. Juliet has done an excellent service for the Corvette hobby in general and specifically to those with 1970 Corvettes.- Top
