Buttoning up after replacing the clutch in my '66 coupe. Have gotten to re-installing the linkage - no problem so far except I'm having a bear of a time getting the bottom shifter bolt screwed into the shifter bracket. Access it tough, and I can get about 1/16 turn (from underneith) at a time. At this rate it'll be Christmas before it's together.
From the bottem, the exhaust/trans bracket are in the way, and it's almost impossible to get to fron the top - can't get a socket on the bolt because the shifter blades are in the way.
I removed this bolt last - after all the linkage was dangling - when disassembling. Should the linkage be un-hooked from the trans to get at this bolt? Is there a specific order this needs to go back together to allow access?
