Horns/TCS

I found a junked 1970 Malibu in a salvage yard. Would someone let me know if (1) the horns are the same as the 1970 Corvette horns? (2) what about the TCS switch that mounts on the intake manifold? (3) Finally, would the original horn relays be the same for both models? (I couldn't locate the relay on the Malibu--may b missing/scavenged.)

Start with that investment you made in your classic car support library.

(1) Your AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) will call out the GM P/N

of the horns. The Judging Guide should tell you where to look for

the P/N on the finished assy and how to read it. After this exercise

I'll guess you find that horns are one of those Corvette unique

'styling' investments Zora made.

(2) Next, the TCS relay is also documented in your AIM and there were

several suppliers. The most commonly found one on Corvettes was

Littlefuse and factory originals have the GM P/N stamped into the

metal case lid. You should be able to compare and confirm what's

on the Chevelle is the real McCoy part from the era shared by your

classic Corvette (unless it's been replaced....).

(3) Same goes for the horn relay. Judging Guide tells how to visually

ID the construction of the unit and AIM gives you GM P/N specifics.

You should find a key P/N identifier (last three digits) stamped

into the base of the Malibu horn relay that match (when you locate

it).

Also, look for a larger selection universe than ONE lone Chevelle. These components are cheap at the yards and wouldn't you like to pick & choose based on how intact the plating is as well as have a spare (or two) in case one is "bye bye" and/or a working unit you get fails after you buy and install it?
