    1961 Replacement Carpet?

    Hi all,
I am going to replace my older replacement carpet in my 1961 Vette and wanted to hear from you as to where to turn for the best product and price. I have looked at Romeo Engineering, Al Knoch, and the other parts houses. There is a big difference in pricing, so naturally I want to know if the quality is any different. Any advise here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
    Regards,

Craig, there is someone on eBay who runs a perpetual ad for C1 carpet for about $130. Claims it is made by ACC, who makes the carpet marketed by a lot of the big vendors. I've used it before and quality seemed good. The carpet in my 62 is starting to fade slightly and I have been considering trying this guy out. The only reason I haven't yet is the ACC factory is less than an hour's drive from me, and I was going to see if I could buy it direct from them.

Just my opinion, but I think it is hard to beat Al Knoch for quality and workmanship on interior parts. Some of their items are pricey, but I believe in the long run, worth it.

I have absolutely no idea if it is true but another vendor recently told me that Al Knoch lost his long time carpet supplier and that the carpet that he is now selling is not correct.

Craig... I also will be doing carpet replacement in my '61 2x4-270hp before september flight judging. Everything I have researched says Al Knoch is the best and not the cheapest. I'll decide to go with all new carpets screws, adhesive and probably one of those under-carpet heat barriors. I have never done the job, but hopefully with instruction publications, or Al Knoch carpet installation video &/or club members help...it will be done by Fall. I also have to remove seats and replace ( or restore, if original) seatbelt hardware
'cause I got belts with label etc. this winter. I'm mostly concerned with just doing a good & correct job! I like the idea of just scraping heavy build-ups of old glue and then applying new stuff. I have to see if sloppiness and therefore glue showing is correct?! I also will check into comment on Al Knoch losing carpet vendor & correctness factor. Good Luck -Bruce #39024

            Graig...

Use Al Knoch, At least their carpet fits and will lay-in without any cutting (except the dimmer switch hole) They also have a installaion video ($) that covers the basic's very well. The Romeo carpet does not fit properly on the divers side. I also recommend using the bush-on adhesive for working the carpet smooth. If you miss the carpet hold-down screw locations, the dimensions are in the 61-62 Judging Guide. I only located two screws (one each side) when I took my 61 carpet out.
