    Fuel Gauge Gremlins

    I did some work on my 1963 instrument panel, being careful to mark bulbs and plugs for correct reinstallation. Now, whenever I use the turn signal, the fuel gauge needle vibrates with each flash of the signal indicator. What did I do wrong????

    Re: Fuel Gauge Gremlins

    My guess is you did very little wrong, I suspect you are fighting a grounding gremlin not a wiring problem. I would go through the cluster again making sure all ground connections to bulbs and guages are solid...Craig

      WAG...

      WAG= Wild Arse Guess.

      There are a number of strategically placed capacitors to absorb switching transients from various sources (especially if the car is radio equipped) and it MIGHT be you've got one mis-connected or its going bad (losing internal storage capacity due to dielectric leakage). The TS flasher puts a rather heafty switched current load on the instrument cluster B+ supply line (as do brake lights, heater blower, and headlight switch)....
