    C1 Carpet Screws

I am needing alittle imput in regards to the carpet screws. I recently removed the carpet from my 1961 Corvette and only found screw hole locations for one screw on each side instead of the two as described in the Judging Guide. Could there have only been one used or am I missing something? Thanks for any imput.

    Craig,

Look carefully. The holes may be filled with something. I have found the holes are random and are not always where the Chevrolet documents say.

craig: if , after thourough cleanig of floor pan, you only find a hole per side, restore the 61 that-a-way. my 61 only had a total of two screws fastening the carpet to the floor pan.perhaps it was built on a monday morniong hangover mike

Me too. My '62 only had 1 screw per side. I looked high and low for the second one, especially around where the AIM said it should be. 98% sure it's not there. My car has collected so many extra and enlarged mounting holes in the fiberglass from over the years, that I couldn't bring myself to add 2 more, even if they're correct. I'm sticking with 1 mounting screw per side. Mine was a Monday car.

My .02 cents worth. Do not waste your time trying to find them from the interior of the car. Position your butt under the car looking up at the engine side of the floor pan where the screw holes should be. Chances are good, you'll probably be able to find them fairly easily. Dennis
