Started My Engine Today - Its been 5 years

I fired up my engine (327-350)on my complete resto of my 67. I have been restoring the car for 5 years. The engine was rebuilt 4 years ago and has been waiting since. Things went really well--No runs, no drips, and only a little fire that was easily put out (A little timing error). I can't explain the relief of having the car start right up and run so nicely. Countdown for judging is near. Next I need to actually think about driving it around the block.

YES!

Do more than 'think' about taking 'er for a drive.... There are certain things you'll only find out about by actually driving/using the car which could save you a LOT of judging points (especially during Operations Check) once you've become 'familiar' with your baby. And, if you're considering going after the Mark of Excellence Award, you'll need to pass a Performance Verification test.

From experience, I can tell you that owner's who've actually used their cars putting a few 100 miles on them have a MUCH better chance of passing the PV than those who spent years in restoration then became 'afraid' to drive/use the car and chance wearing out this/that....
