Hello all, I have a strange problem hopoing someone can help me with. When I accelerate in my 67, the speedometer does not move accordingly until I push in on the clutch to make a shift. So I start out in first accelerate to appx 35, speedo stays at say 10mph and then when i push in clutch to shift to second, only then does needle move up to more accurate measure of speed. Anyone experience simiar kinda thing?
Tahnks in advance,
Tony Digiorgio
tony: i'd first check for an interference problem between the clutch linkage and the speedometer cable. normally they don't come innto close proximity, but ya never know what a previousowner/mechanic did under the dash or down by the transmission rods. good luck, mike
Wayne: regarding the cable that withdrew from the socket: was it a made-up cable that was a tad too short or were the corners rounded off the cable ends or distorted socket in the speedo head? thanks, mike
