I have an early 66 L36 with A/C, built 11/17/65. The right hand valve cover has a somewhat crudely made indentation for the A/C bracket. It looks like it was made with a power hammer or hammer and punch. The build date of the car is about the time that the indentation began to make an appearance. Is this the factory crude fix? I have no reason to believe the covers aren't original and why would someone make a crude indentation latter, especially after it was known that the indentation was not needed? The factory is known to have make crude 'make do fixes' with the switch in the hood support mounting on the early BB air cars. Is this an example of the same, until a more permanent fix was engineered? Has anyone seen another example of such an indentation? Any info. greatly appreaciated.

Re: 66 BB w/air valve cover indentation
Darwin - interesting, All the examples in this vintage I have seen have the smooth formed indentation in that area, but, they were on restored cars so the authenticity is useless. Nevertheless, I have never seen any hand formed crude fixes for this indentation. I saw a set of original 66 covers with this at Bloomington last weekend the seller wanted $1500 for, next to a NOS Eaton original style fan clutch for $750 and and a used Schweitzer BB 67 vintage clutch for $750. I wonder why they were all still there on Sunday? Can anyone spell highway robbery?.....Craig- Top

Re: 66 BB w/air valve cover indentation
early 66 bb valve covers, with or without c-60, that i've observed over the years, had indentation that appeared to be a STAMPED indentation. never seen a rube goldberg depression that i bought into.mike- Top
