quick steering steve g i want to change the tie rod end position on the spindle from quick steer to regular what kind of measurements to i need to make in order to adjust the tie rods for proper wheel alignment

re quick steering joe lucia the tie rods affect only wheel toe with the wheels in the straight ahead position on the ground measure the distance between the center of the tires at the front of the tire after you perform the relocation of the tie rod end position on the spindle arm readjust the tie rods to establish the same measurement be aware though this is only a rough adjustment this will get you to the alignment shop without scuffing too much tread off your tires however unless you have the skill and equipment you must have the car professionally aligned one other caution if your car has power steering you cannot use the regular steering position you must use the fast ratio position if your car has manual steering you have the option of either position

re quick steering steve g thank you for very informative answer you saved my friend and i a s load of work this weekend my friend is the original owner of his ' a number of years he changed the tie rod position to the fast ratio setting he had manual steering a couple of years ago he added power steering thank's to your advice we won't try to change tie rod position
