    C2-paint markings on driveline parts

    What exactly is the significance of the different color paint marking on the driveshaft and halfshafts. Thanks

        The green paint dab on the half-shafts differentiated the BB shafts from the SB shafts; the BB shafts were dimensionally identical, but they were shot-peened, and the green paint identified them during manufacture and assembly.

          Green = Big Block?

          John et al,

          You indicate that the green daub of paint indicated a BB driveshaft, which differentiated it from the SB. In an archived post from Fred Oliva, he indicated that a green daub on the fan clutch shaft indicated a BB fan clutch.

          I know it's a stretch from only these two examples, but did "Green" mean a BB part?

            I also understood that orange on half shafts indicated F41 Heavy Duty suspension.

              I don't think green had any special relationship to big-blocks; it's shown on the BB half-shaft print to identify that shaft, and those things were generally agreed to by both the releasing engineer and the manufacturing engineer based on what would work best for the guy who had to make the parts and keep them separated prior to shipping.
