My '72 has a 14", 168 tooth flywheel. In looking at replacement starters from GM I find a gear reduction starter with an "offset" mounting bolt pattern like the one in the car now. GM also offers another gear reduction starter that they say fits all 153 and 168-tooth flywheel engines and it has an "inline" bolt pattern. How can both fit? Thaks in advance for insight into this seeming contradiction.
