C2 L72 motor and mandatory options

Sorry guys but again I have a question and its because of the so vette exspert I recently met.

I alway thought that the L72 could have eather the standard suspention or the optional F41 suspention and that only the L72 was allowed to have the F41 package, I am being told that NO I have it wrong As soon as L72 was checked off on the option list it included the K66 ign and the F41 and the M21 trans.

Could some one please clarify this for me.

If you checked off L72 what options did you have to get and what options where you not allowed to get.And what was the stardard rear axle that came with the L72 motor

    Thanks Again

Funny but the guy does not belong to the ncrs, does not own a vette now,But is real out spoken on what is correct and incorrect a vette

Re: 66 Big Block Idler Belt

Larry, with the L72 engine option one could also get the F41 suspension. It was not mandatory but was available. About 50% of the L72 cars have that option. My car does not. It was not available with other engine options. The K66 was mandatory with L72. Also I believe the M21 was required. Don't know about the most common rear option. Mine is the 4:11. Hope this helps.

      Larry-----

For 1966, F-41 was only available with the L-72 engine, but it was NOT required with the L-72 engine. Only about half of the 1966 L-72s were also equipped with F-41. The only transmissions available with L-72s were the M-21 and M-22 (just a few of these were made, though).

J-56 HD brakes were available only with the L-72, but were not required. K-66 transistor ignition was required with the L-72. G-81 positraction was also required with L-72.

A/C was not available with L-72. All other options were available with L-72.

Standard rear end ratio was 3.55:1. 3.36, 3.70, and 4.11 were available.

ALL F-41 EQUIPPED 66'S WERE L-72 BUT NOT ALL L-72S HAD TO COME WITH F-41.MIKE
