    Late 1970 Headlamp Washer Washers

I have a late production 1970 (July 20, 1970) that has a washer at each of the lower headlamp washer nozzles. Earlier cars do not appear to have them but mine appear to be original. Anyone else have any experience with these squirter nozzle washer washers on late 1970 headlamps?

Re: Late 1970 Headlamp Washer Washers

They were part of the car in '70 and actually used in earlier years '69 but with a slightly different washer pump configuration. Well documented in both NCRS Judging Guide as well as M.F. Dobbins' "Fact Book".

Carried over into first months of '71 MY. Then began to 'disappear'. By this I mean the factory continued to 'burn' parts of the system even though it was not functional. Early '71's are often seen with HL bezels with washer mount holes absent the squirter.

The rare limited run 5-port washer pump (one inlet/four outlets) can be the object of squabbles. Those restoring/maintaining '70 cars need 'em for originality as well as functionality. Early '71 owners need 'em for originality even though they left the factory with the two HL washer nipples 'blinded' with a short run of hose.

My '71 is a late April build and the electrical/vac harness bundle has two short runs of HL washer hose neatly cut off in it. Factory simply 'chopped' the length of HL washer hose to 'burn' up left over inventory of '70 vac hose harness....

        Jack---

Yes, and considering the functionality of this "headlamp washer system", Chevrolet's decision to eliminate them was merciful.

            But What about the Washers

What I am questioning of is not the HL washers but the mounting washers which are used in the mounting of the lower sqirter/nozzles of each HL. The use of the thick washer (about the size of a nickel) was questioned at the chapter meet in Pittsburgh this past weekend. Most people had not seen these mounted with the washers which are about the size of a nickel although they looked original. Any comments? (Sorry about the lack of good dimensions...the car is back in storage until this weekend.)
