    64 arm rest option

I just got a 64 and it does not have arm rests. The door panels are in good shape, appears original, and have no arm rest mounting holes on the back side. The panel board is that tan brown pressed board material I found used on other original Corvette panels. I feel a little dumb asking this but could this be correct? Every reference picture I could find showed interior arm rests on the 63 & 64.

    Thanks
    Bill

As far as I know, arm rests were not an option in 1964; they were standard equipment supplied on all cars. However, if you have original door panels and they do not have holes for the armrests, then I'd say that your car was built without armrests for whatever reason (e.g. a shortage of parts on the assembly line).

Check the rear of the door panels carefully. Sometimes these have an ink-stamped date code. If present, this would verify the originality of the door panels currently installed.

if a pair of 1/4 inch holes are not present to mount the armrest(all 64's had em) then i'll bet you'll find "Al Knoch" stamped on the backside of the door panel. mike

These panels look quite old. on the back side the staples are rusted and the board is water-stained. On the front side the panels show ware, and the carpet strip at the base is faded. However in general they don't look to bad. Now you have me going. I purchased Al Knoch panels for a 65 I owned ten tears ago, and the back side on these are different. I'll have to remove them and take a closer look.

They arrived at St. Louis with the armrest screw holes already pierced in them originally; they must be reproduction panels.
