    Thanks everyone! Guess I should have installed a kit long ago. Will order today and put it in next saturaday. Like Jacks idea of carrying the take- offs.

    You can simplify the "spare parts" for emergency use even more if you carry a Uniset-type points set which incorporates both points set and condensor, That way, all you need carry is one uniset and one rotor. Also, if you adjust the Uniset points gap to the proper setting before removal from the distributor, the chances are great that you will re-achieve the correct setting (or close enough for acceptable engine operation) upon re-installation without having to deal with a "field" point adjustment in an emergency situation. The entire "re-conversion", if ever necessary, will require only a few minutes.
